Music PEI Announces New Program Mentors and Opens Submissions for Golden Ticket and Takin’ Care of Business Programs

Music PEI has selected two highly qualified mentors to take up the mantle of managing the Golden Ticket and Takin’ Care of Business programs. Colin Buchanan (Paper Lions, Producer & Engineer) will be leading the Golden Ticket program and Mathias Kom (The Burning Hell, Ph.D.) will be leading the Takin’ Care of Business program. With years of industry experience under their belts ranging from production, numerous releases, extensive touring, and established DIY practices combined with years of formal education and professional development, Music PEI is confident that these two industry powerhouses will continue to lead these programs with the expected level of excellence that has been established over the years of successful program management by John MacPhee.

As John moves on after many years of program management and mentoring for Music PEI, the organization would like to express its gratitude for the expertise that John offered to develop and run these programs from their inception.

The next round of submissions for the Golden Ticket and Takin’ Care of Business Programs is currently open and accepting applications. Each of these programs can provide a significant boost to the development of an artist’s career.

Golden Ticket

Many artists have released great music without a concrete plan and system in place to support the release and Music PEI has created the Golden Ticket program in response to that very important process. The Golden Ticket program is designed to assist artists to develop or improve their profiles and learn best practices when releasing new material. This unique program will take an artist with a new and previously unreleased and unrecorded song through the process of recording and releasing a single with the goal of developing the artist’s profile, receiving some radio play, creating new revenue, and establishing a template for the artist to use in the future.

The program provides participants with product development for their art and business practices. Eligible artists (solo or band in all genres) must be considered emerging artists that have demonstrated a commitment to their music career, showing some success, and a desire to take their career to the next level of development.

Takin’ Care of Business

Takin’ Care of Business Program started in 2015 and was designed to teach best business practices in the music business along with creating multiple revenue streams in order to create a sustainable career. The focus is on developing the right foundational business practices, creating an online portal for all the material required when registering with performance rights organizations, licensing your songs for film and TV, and cataloging material. This program is essential for emerging artists and is beneficial for artists at any stage of their careers.

Music PEI will accept submissions for both Golden Ticket and Takin Care of Business until December 5th, 2022.

You must be a resident of Prince Edward Island to qualify and only 6 artists will be accepted into each program.
