Investment Program
Artist Development Fund
This fund supports Prince Edward Island music artists by providing investment in their career in 1 of 3 different categories:
Artists are eligible for different amounts depending on if they are a Level I, Level II, or Level III Artist. Find information on eligibility and levels in the Investment Program Info-Session Slideshow (PDF).
Designed to support Prince Edward Island artists and music industry professionals in growing their business activities in export markets through showcases at music industry conferences and showcase festivals, targeted and confirmed business meetings, and collaborative songwriting trips.
This stream supports Eligible Music Companies by investing in development projects. Investment is available for initiatives that are not artist-specific, but that support the marketing and promotion of the company, full roster, and its services.
Each year, Music PEI will offer up to eight (8) Microgrants of $500 each, with preference given to youth, women and non-binary individuals, 2SLGBTQ+, racialized people, neurodivergent/disabled people, and underserved minorities. Microgrants will fund all eligible expenses to a maximum of $500 each. Eligible expenses include demo recording, live show production, graphic design, photo and video production, and marketing and advertising costs.
Other Funding Programs
Golden Ticket is designed for 4 emerging artists annually, picked by juried submissions (solo or band), from any genre who have demonstrated commitment to their craft and a strong desire for industry advancement. Through the program, participants will work with mentor Colin Buchanan to develop a plan for their career goals, record, produce and release a new single, and develop skillsets such as business development and grant writing.
Diverse Voices is designed to serve emerging musicians from the BIPOC, 2SLGBTQIA+, and disabled communities between the ages of 18 and 39, providing participants with professional recording/production of a new single, professional marketing development/training, and artist brand development, from mentor Katrina Lopes of KL Management. Two musicians will be selected by juried submissions each year.
Ripple Effect
A project dedicated to creating protective spaces and reducing gender-based violence and sexual harm in PEI’s music industry. Ripple Effect hosts workshops, events, initiatives at PEI’s biggest music festivals–Cavendish Beach Music Festival and Sommo Festival–and offers accessible resources and toolkits to promote safer spaces in the music industry.
