Grant Lawrence to Host 2013 Music PEI Awards Gala
Music PEI is pleased to announce that Grant Lawrence will host the 12th Annual Music PEI Awards Gala presented by TicketPro. The gala will take place Feb. 2, 2013 at the Homburg Theatre at the Confederation Centre of the Arts in Charlottetown. The stage will once again come alive to celebrate the best of the Island’s music scene.
A leading voice in Canadian arts and entertainment, Lawrence is veteran radio personality, writer and musician based in Vancouver, B.C. He currently hosts Grant Lawrence Live, a live and interactive daily program on CBC Radio 3’s popular web radio station, which also airs on Sirius 152. The Vancouver native can be heard throughout the week on various CBC Radio One programs, such as DNTO, Spark, All Points West and On The Coast, and has contributed to Q and Sounds Like Canada.
When he’s not conducting music industry seminars or giving keynote addresses on music and media related topics, Lawrence is a seasoned event host. The six-time co-host of the Polaris Music Prize Gala has also hosted the Western Canadian Music Awards and various festivals around North America.
“It’s my great honour to be traveling across Canada from my native BC to be host the Music PEI Awards in 2013. Of all the provinces, Prince Edward Island consistently amazes me year in, year out, for the sheer quality and quantity of music created from this beautiful place,” Lawrence said. “I follow the Prince Edward Island music scene very closely from afar, so I consider it a blessing to be able to immerse myself in it in person once again during PEI Music Week.”

The awards gala will cap off Metro Credit Union Music PEI Week 2013 which takes place January 25-February 2. Tickets for the gala go on sale Dec. 4, 2012.
The event is an annual celebration of the Island’s finest from tip to tip. With dozens of awards given out to the best in the music industry, and an incredible line up of performers, tickets for the gala will go quickly. Metro Credit Union Music PEI Week will also include new signature concerts Nudie’s House of Rock and Country Jubilee media sponsor CFCY, the returning S.A.C. Songwriters Concert presented by AIRS, Friday Night Live presented by Ocean 100, Art for Music and Music PEI Interactive presented by TicketPro.
Metro Credit Union Music PEI Week takes place January 25 – February 2, 2013.
