Performers announced for 2012 Music PEI Awards Gala Award for Music PEI Visual Artist of the Year given to Lorne Miller

Metro Credit Union Music PEI Week kicked off with a bang Friday evening at the Music PEI Coffee Art Crawl presented by On-Line Support in downtown Charlottetown.

The award for Visual Artist of the Year presented by Graphic Communications was announced at this opening event, with photographer Lorne Miller taking home the trophy. Lorne Miller’s photographs, branded as PixbyLorne, can be seen along with the rest of the visual artist nominees at Leonhard’s, Beanz and Timothy’s until January 21.

A remarkable line-up of performers was also announced for the Music PEI Awards Gala, presented by Ocean 100 and Hot 105.5 at the Confederation Centre of the Arts on January 21 at 8pm.

Revered singer-songwriter Lennie Gallant joins the cast of awards-nominated performers that includes Catherine MacLellan, Tim Chaisson and MorningFold, Racoon Bandit, The Express, Al Tuck, Arrows in the Air, Dennis Ellsworth, Kelley Mooney, Bad Habits, Frances McBurnie and Morgan Saulnier, Death Valley Driver, and Johnny Oliver.

The gala will be hosted by actor, writer, and native Islander Jonathan Torrens and will feature a dozen music and industry award presentations. Tickets are on sale at the Confederation Centre of the Arts box office or online at www.confederationcentre.com. This event sells out annually and is the pinnacle of Metro Credit Union Music PEI Week.
