Music PEI is very excited to announce the performers for a number of events during Metro Credit Union Music PEI Week 2012, January 13-21 across the province.

Music PEI has raised the bar again with Friday Night Live presented by Gahan Breweries on Friday January 20th. This annual Music Week event will bring 25 PEI artists or groups to pubs and clubs not only in Charlottetown this year, but also across the Island.

An exciting array of performers will pack nine different venues including Red’s Corner in Poole’s Corner, The Olde Tap Room in Summerside, The Dunk in Breadalbane, as well as six Charlottetown shows at Hunter’s Ale House, Globe World Flavours, The Alibi Lounge, Olde Dublin Pub, Marc’s Studio and an all-ages show at Solid Rock Café. Tickets are available at the door of each participating venue. A full list of performers and venues can be found below.

The annual S.A.C. Songwriters Concert, presented by the Eastern Graphic, will take place Thursday, January 19 at the King’s Playhouse in Georgetown. Guest hosted by three-time Juno award-winning singer-songwriter, David Francey, the line-up will feature the 2012 Music PEI nominees for SOCAN Songwriter of the Year.

This accomplished group includes Catherine MacLellan, Dennis Ellsworth, Liam Corcoran of The Express, John MacPhee of Paper Lions, Fraser McCallum of Racoon Bandit, and special guest Ashley Condon. For tickets visit the King’s Playhouse website at www.kingsplayhouse.com.

Voting is also now open for the 2012 Music PEI Awards in both the Music PEI member and Fan’s Choice voting categories. The Fan’s Choice Award is for Bell Aliant Weekend Warrior of the Year. Music PEI Members and music fans can place their votes online at www.musicpei.com until January 6, 2012.

Tickets for all Music Week shows, including the closing event, the Music PEI Awards Gala presented by K-Rock 105.5 and Ocean 100, are on sale now. Headliners and performers for the Awards Gala will be announced at a later date. Visit www.musicpei.com for more information.
