Export Readiness Training Workshop this Friday

East Coast musicians and managers who are ready to take on the world are getting a helping hand from the East Coast Music Association (ECMA).

ECMA in partnership with Music PEI, are teaming up to deliver a series of advanced Export Readiness Training Pitching Workshops for Atlantic Canadian artists and managers.

“Our goal is to give artists the tools to expand to new markets,” says Shelley Nordstrom, ECMA Export Manager. “These sessions will also groom people for our international program at ECMA 2009 in Corner Brook. The sessions are recommended for artists and managers interested in participating in the international program, including one-on-one business meetings with international delegates.”

Export Readiness Training Pitching Workshop for PEI will be held at the Atlantic Technology Centre (90 University Avenue) in Charlottetown on Friday, January 30th.

Registration fee is $25 and pre-registration is required and includes a light lunch. To register, contact Music PEI at (902) 894-6734 (www.musicpei.com).

This full-day advanced workshop facilitated by internationally acclaimed pitching consultant Jan Miller is designed for export-ready artists, managers and companies who wish to perfect their presentation and one-on-one pitching techniques while developing relationships with key industry players in the music business. Learn the components to strengthen your personal communication styles and adapt pitches for conversational one-on-one business meetings. Participants will take part in a three hour interactive session, focusing on the elements essential to conduct an effective business meeting, through observing live one-on-one pitch conversations in action.

Over the last three years, ECMA has taken the lead in partnership with the four provincial music industry associations and the Atlantic Film Festival Association and delivered 30 Export Readiness Training Workshops and Live Performance Coaching Sessions to more than 500 artists or artist representatives and helped prepare them to become export ready.

The Export Readiness Training Workshops are funded by ECMA, Music NL, Music NS, Music NB, Music PEI and the Provinces of Nova Scotia (Department of Tourism, Culture and Heritage), New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, Newfoundland and Labrador (Department of Innovation, Trade and Rural Development).
