Music PEI will be hosting a special songwriting masterclass with the celebrated singer-songwriter David Francey January 30th at the Florence Simmons Performance Hall, 140 Weymouth St, Charlottetown. This is your chance to learn directly from the man himself. The intimate evening workshop will cover topics on technique and inspiration; lyrics, melody, harmony; and writing from outside your own experience.

About David: Since leaving construction and recording Torn Screen Door in 1999, Scottish-born Canadian David Francey has been recognized as one Canada’s finest singer-songwriters. Francey has released 13 albums to date and has earned three Juno Awards, four Canadian Folk Music Awards, a SOCAN Folk Music Award, and three critics’ Album of the Year awards from the Canadian folk magazine Penguin Eggs.

This will be David’s second time to host a songwriter workshop for Music PEI. The first time resulted in his discovery of Ashley Condon and producing her 2013 album The Great Compromise.

The masterclass is FREE for Music PEI members and students of the Holland College School of Performing Arts. $15 at the door for non-members. Register in advance by visiting HERE.
