Voting for the 2017 Music PEI Awards is Now Open!
Music PEI, the music industry association for Prince Edward Island, is happy to announce that voting for the 2017 Music PEI awards is now open. 2017 marks the 16th year the Music PEI awards will be awarded to members of the music industry based on PEI. Award winners are determined by a combination of juried voting, member voting and public voting ballots.
“Each year Music PEI hands out up to 30 awards to the hardworking artists and music industry professionals and we are looking forward to seeing who will take home the hardware in May” said Music PEI president Darcy Campbell.
A number of categories are voted on by members of Music PEI. Those categories include: Album of the Year, Country Recording of the Year, Female Solo Recording of the Year, Group Recording of the Year, Male Solo Recording of the Year, New Artist of the Year, Pop Recording of the Year, Rock/Urban Recording of the Year, Roots Recording of the Year, Songwriter of the Yea and Video of the Year.
In a move towards a more transparent and industry driven voting process, a number of awards will be voted on by a jury of industry professionals. Qualified jurors representing various genres and industry roles from across Canada and beyond will determine the award winners in the following categories: Achievement in Classical Award, Community Contributor of the Year, Digital Achievement of the Year, Event of the Year, Live Music Programmer of the Year, Live Music Production Professional of the Year, Musician of the Year, Producer of the Year, Recording studio of the Year, Touring Artist of the Year, Venue of the Year, Visual Artist of the Year, Volunteer of the Year
The public are encouraged to vote for the Bell Aliant Entertainer of the Year and Cover Band/Artist of the Year. For a full list of nominees and voting go to the Music PEI website, www.musicpei.com. Members of Music PEI have one ballot per individual or band member. Voting will remain open until 5:00pm AT, February 15th, 2017.
The Music PEI Awards will be handed out at the Music PEI awards party during May Run Music Festival. May Run Music Festival returns to PEI May 10 to 14, 2017.
