AN ISLAND AFFAIR at THE FACTORY COOKHOUSE – Fundraiser for Music PEI

Published On: October 22nd, 2013Categories: News0 Comments

Music PEI is pleased to present An Island Affair, a singer songwriter fundraiser performance with a twist taking place Thursday, November 14th at The Factory Cookhouse. An impressive list of established and emerging Island songwriters, Catherine MacLellan, Nudie, Mitch Schurman, Josh Carter of Coyote, Katie McGarry, Irish Mythen, Emilee Sorrey of Colour Code and Fox and the Hound, and Zach Squires will be taking the stage to pay tribute to their local influences by covering their favourite Island artists.

An Island Affair will be an opportunity for the artists – who are donating their time – to raise funds for their industry association, helping Music PEI to continue to support the Island’s growing music industry. Since 2008 Music PEI has provided a full range of services and opportunities which have had a significant impact on the development of our music community as we see more artists touring across the country and internationally than ever before.

“Music PEI has really helped my career and so many other Island artists, providing support financially as well as networking and knowledge of the music industry” said Catherine Maclellan.

Music PEI is a non-profit organisation and major annual activities include the music buyers program Showcase PEI, Music PEI Week, the Music PEI Grant Program, professional development workshops, representing PEI’s music industry at a national level and a host of other ongoing activities. This is the first of a series of fundraising events to support Music PEI and the important work being done to develop our Island music industry and helping our artist’s music find international markets.

It is an opportunity for the artists to give back and for the public to come out, show their support and hear some really unique performances. There will be two sets, with four artists in each set as they play some of their favourite songs written by their contemporaries and an idol or two! This show is not to be missed.
