Women Wanted!

President, Rob Oakie, says the PEIMA is encouraging women to offer for board positions. In fact, at a board meeting earlier this month a motion was passed committing the board to achieving at least a 50% representation by women as soon as possible.

?We have had women on the board in the past. Right now we don?t have any. We want to begin to rectify that on Tuesday night. Currently 2 women who have offered for the board this year are Kerry Wynne MacLeod who we all know as the cheerful morning voice of Ocean 100.3 and Kate Hughes who has worked for the ECMA for the past year. If more women are interested in the activities of the Prince Edward Island music industry and in helping out I would encourage you to call the office at 566-5304.?

The 2006 PEI Music Awards will be held in Charlottetown at the Confederation
Center of the Arts on November the 10th with the Songwriters Circle at the
Guild on the 9th, more information on both will be available shortly after the annual meeting.
