Music PEI and Hunter’s Ale House are excited to present Hal-LOUD-ween at Hunter’s October 28th at 11pm. The showcase will feature three of the top metal bands on Prince Edward Island – Death Valley Driver, Uigg and Pest Control.

Often overlooked by the mainstream, metal in PEI and the rest of the East Coast is a vibrant genre supported by a very dedicated and loyal group of musicians and fans. PEI has produced some of the most prominent metal bands in the region. Death Valley Driver recently opened for Metallica in July and was named by craveonline.com as one of the Top 10 best opening acts in Canada last summer alongside heavy weights such as Arcade Fire, Interpol, Mudhoney and My Chemical Romance. As with all genres of music, Music PEI is proud to be supporting the metal scene on Prince Edward Island.

Over the last several years Hunter’s Ale House has established itself as an important and supportive venue for East Coast artists. Not only a supporter of local music, Hunter’s has become a tour stop for many artists travelling across the country. The venue has played host to a broad range of musical genres including rock, pop, hip hop, bluegrass, folk, electronic, punk and of course, metal.

“The music scene on PEI is ripe with talent in many genres” says Steve Barber, director of operations for Hunter’s Ale House. “It comes with great pride that we feature talented acts from fringe genres such as metal. We are excited to showcase these acts as they have done very well here in the past”.

“Death Valley Driver is very excited to see Music PEI supporting our local loud scene” says Dan Hodgson, lead singer of Death Valley Driver. “After opening for Metallica last summer, we hopefully proved that Island heavy metal can compete on a level that transcends our small region. It’s thanks to venues like Hunter’s and support from Music PEI that we are given an outlet for our music.”
