The Songwriters Association of Canada presents SONGPOSIUM, an intensive one-day seminar for emerging and aspiring songwriters and those interested in learning more about the art, craft and business of songwriting. Learn from some of the foremost international talent in the music industry as they share their experience and knowledge to help you get your songs heard.

8:30 AM REGISTRATION

9:00 AM ANATOMY OF A HIT: Listen as John Capek reveals what it takes to get to the top of the charts; from conception, to rough recordings, to album single, to radio hit.

10:45 AM MARKETING ON THE WEB: Meet Janis Nixon and learn how to use Internet marketing to promote yourself. This session includes an overview of Web 2.0 and a guide on how to make yourself Web 2.0 friendly starting with the easiest applications in the social media realm and working up to the most technically difficult.

Noon BREAK to 1:00 PM (lunch not provided)

1:15 PM RADIO PROGRAMMER: Learn what it takes to balance the tastes of the listener with the needs of the advertisers in today’s market. What songs are radio stations looking for and how do they select new material? Find out as our music programming expert dispels the myths of radio.

2:45 PM DEMO EVALUATIONS: Submit a song for evaluation by our panel of industry experts and learn what they’re looking for! Demos selected at random; visit songwriters.ca for submission guidelines and panel information.
