Showcase PEI 2008 Music Conference

September 15th and 16th Music PEI staged the first ever Prince Edward Island international music conference. 14 artists from various genres were showcased to delegates from Japan, US and other parts of Canada. Japanese delegates included 2 labels, a distributor and Oricon the largest music trade/entertainment magazine in Japan.

Other delegates included agents from high profile agencies, 3 of the top folk festivals in Canada (Winnipeg, Calgary & Ottawa) as well as regional presenters from Atlantic Canada.

Showcase PEI 2008 Music Conference included one on one business meetings, a panel discussion between delegates and Music PEI members, a rock showcase on the 15th and a roots showcase on the 16th.

This was the first Showcase PEI Music Conference which will become an annual event bringing international and domestic delegates together with showcasing Island artists. Funding for the program was provided by PEI Business Development, ACOA, Trade Routes and the SOCAN Foundation.
