Music PEI Board Postpones Songwriter?s Circle

The Board of Directors for Music PEI has taken the decision to postpone the Songwriters Circle for the originally scheduled date of November 9th, 2006 at The Guild in Charlottetown. The Gala Awards Show is confirmed for Friday, November 10th at the Confederation Centre of the Arts mainstage.

This long-running segment of the ?awards weekend? will be re-scheduled to a future date that will promote an ?intimate concert where the audience enjoys the acoustic version of popular songs, sung by their original artists?, and give the audience the opportunity to hear the story behind the song as well. The long-standing format is intended to be similar, however the board felt this type of performance needs to be further developed and promoted for a more equitable end result.

The Songwriters Circle segment has traditionally been included with the Gala Awards event which has evolved from the same day as the Gala Event, placed back-to-back with an industry tradeshow, to being held on a separate day and location.

2006 is the 6th Annual Awards show presentation for Music PEI, formally known as Prince Edward Island Music Awards Association. As the association develops and grows, so too does the evolution of the showcases to best highlight PEI music. Stay tuned for further announcements on this upcoming display of Prince Edward Island talent.
