Music PEI is calling for submissions for artists or groups interested in showcasing at the ECMA in Fredericton in February 2008. Please see the questionnaire and eligibility requirements linked below. If you feel you meet the criteria and are interested in the showcase opportunity, please fill out the questionnaire and submit it to Music PEI before January 16, 2008. All successful applicants must be members of Music PEI.

The ECMA in association with Music PEI will sponsor an Export Readiness Training Workshop for Film and Television on Friday January 18th in Charlottetown. The Confederation Centre Board Room will be the location for this full day Master Class facilitated by Jan Miller. By attending this workshop/seminar you will learn how to enhance your presentation and pitching techniques to music supervisors, film and television producers and key industry players in order to have your music placed in film and television.
The workshop is designed for export ready artists, managers and companies who wish to perfect their presentation and pitching skill sets while developing relationships with key players from the film and television industries. You will learn the components required to strengthen personal communication styles and how to adapt pitches for conversational one-on-one meetings. Participants will take part in a three hour session focusing on the essential elements required to conduct an effective business meeting where they observe live one-on-one pitch conversations in action and listen in on the feedback from experienced industry folks such as a music supervisor and a producer.

The ECMA in association with Music PEI are pleased to announce they will present world class performance coach Tom Jackson in Charlottetown for two full days January 25th and 26th at the Guild. He is considered one of the foremost live performance/on stage consultants in the music industry. Tom will host a very interactive performance coaching session each day 10 am to 12:30 pm open to all Music PEI members, artists and groups. There is a $50.00 registration fee. Selected artists/groups will have the opportunity to work one on one with Tom Jackson as part of his workshop presentation while other selected artist/groups will spend the afternoon working with his very qualified staff.
The Tom Jackson workshop “Taking Your Music To The NEXT Stage” is the hands on, effective and most immediate way you can see big changes in your show and live performance. No matter whether you are a selected artist or an audience member, you will learn about onstage performance techniques, such as, movement, rhythm, speaking, timing, confidence and how to connect to your audience. This is a rare opportunity to work with one of the top performance coaches in the business who has worked with some of the top major international acts.

On Tuesday, December 11th at 7pm on the main stage of the Confederation Centre of the Arts in Charlottetown, a memorial concert to celebrate the life and music of Doug Riley will take place.
Performers include: Ben Riley, Doug Mallory, Brett Ryan, Danny B, Jamie Gatti, Chris Mitchell, Mark Haines, Roy Johnstone, Joey Kitson, Terry Hatty, Field Trip, The PEI Jazz Band, Michael Burgess and many more…it is not a night to be missed.
Tickets are now available at the Confederation Centre box office, by calling 902-566-1297 or by going to the Confederation Centre’s website. Tickets are $30 and $40. Student ticket prices are only $20.
Doug Riley was a native of Toronto but he called PEI his home. He passed away unexpectedly in Calgary this past summer on his way home from a Jazz and Blues Festival. He was a pillar in the musical community. A composer, arranger, pianist, organist and record producer he worked with some of the most prolific artists in the classical, jazz and commercial genres. His accomplishments are significantly impressive and are a testament to Mr. Riley’s incredible musical prowess. His influence on Canadian popular music after 1970 was enormous.
Proceeds from the concert will go towards establishing scholarships at UPEI.
