Jeff Morris is a purveyor of pure pop-rock. On the heels of his critically acclaimed debut 'afterglow', Morris's 2009 cd release 'Far Away again displays his unique ability to craft intelligent, radio ready, pop music. Co-produced with John Boswell, and mixed by David Rashed (Haywire), 'Far Away' is a mix of clever power pop nuggets and Beatlesque ballads, driven along by Morris's trademark melodies and guitar motifs.
"Jeff has been nominated for two 2010 PEI Music Awards in the Pop Recording, and Male Vocalist categories". Setting the tone for the new record, the title track "Far Away" proved to be a successful single for Morris, garnering 12 commercial radio station adds, national airplay, and remaining in the top ten on the 'East Coast Countdown' for six weeks. His latest single "Photograph" stayed in the top ten on the ECC for five weeks, and is currently spinning on Canadian radio stations. Recently Jeff's track "Cellophane Girl" was selected for the Atlantic Film Festival's 2009 'Music and Image CD Compilation'. It is one of only three songs chosen, out of hundreds, to be included in the festivals sponsors reel that aired at film screenings throughout the event in Halifax.
Morris' 2002 debut album afterglow, recorded at The Factory Studios in Vancouver BC, features a potent blend of striking melodic and lyrical hooks, big guitars, and fluid vocals. Three single releases "Cellophane Girl", "Everything", and "Sitting on the Moon", received heavy commercial radio play throughout Atlantic Canada.
An award winning songwriter, Jeff has toured throughout Canada sharing the stage with artists such as Bryan Adams, Steve Earle, Blue Oyster Cult, The Tragically Hip, and Tom Cochrane. His festival and music conference official showcases include- NEMO in Boston Mass., multiple ECMA award shows, Festival of the Lights, Granville Green Concert Series, Apple Blossom Festival, and Contact East in St. John's Nfld.
Morris' song "Sitting on the Moon" received an honorable mention in the 2003 John Lennon International Songwriting Competition.
"Power pop is back in the Maritimes thanks to singer-songwriter Jeff Morris..."
